When in 2010 the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Citizens United in the Citizen United v. FEC case, it opened the door for full citizenship rights for corporations, labor unions, associations, and other entities.
Emboldened by the 2010 Supreme Court ruling the Koch brothers, Breitbart News, and many industry trade organizations teamed up to gain voting rights for corporations in every state.
Delaware was the first state to include corporations on their voter roles hoping to gain at least two more seats in the House. Thirty percent of US corporations are incorporated in Delaware.
Other states are scrambling to catch up before the next census.
